Premier Robert Ghiz and Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie welcomed Special Olympics Team PEI to the provincial legislature May 8, 2012. Island athletes won 16 medals at the Winter Games in St. Albert, Alberta this past February. Two PEI Special Olympic athletes -- Alyssa Chapman from Murray Harbour and Ellen McNearnery from Montauge -- have qualified to represent Canada at the World Games in PyeongChang, South Korea from January 29 to February 5, 2013.  

The Province of Prince Edward Island congratulates all Island Special Olympic athletes and wishes good luck to Alyssa and Ellen at the World Games.
